It's the soundz of (A.A.D) Act a dogg Militants ( Owner / CEO / Producer / Artist ) Lil Twaun 2pistlz is a rennaissance man that can do it all, Born 4-20-1986 In Winsto-salem, North.carolina, Antwaun Hannah, Got into music at the age of 10 He Started Ryming In the Projects, Kimberly Park Better Know As B.D.P (Tyght-Wod) he sat his sights on other things he wanted his own beats he wanted a real set up, an 2 start like dis he wanted his own Sound, So his mother Got him a computer, an KeyBoard & ever since then Step By Step he's been claiming the same thing A.A.D an everyday he gets better at it , A A D is the New NC Movement and, All Affiliates will be a household name just like Kenmore for years and years to come!!! All topped with lyrics that is not just songs but of several autobiographical stories expanded out over a period of years of alot of different subjects on life. Winston-Salem Was Founded in 1913 when the Moravians merged their city of Salem with nearby Winston, the North Cak city of Winston-Salem, affectionately known as Tre-Fo, seems to have been blessed with the love for the arts, work ethic, and spiritual fortitude of its founding fathers. Although a quick drive around Winston-Salem may have it seem far removed from its righteous roots, perhaps the spirit of its origins may be burning in some of our residents. But their music is best described as filled with a heavy-laden down south drum beats that is mixed with a variety of instruments and strings. Antwaun(Lil Twaun)Barnes struggled throughout school, prevented from playing his favorite sports (basketball and football) because of his poor grades. "I cared about school, but I used to get expelled for fights. I'd have loved to make all A's, but I just never did." His interests lay elsewhere. At the time, NC based powerhouses like
9TH WONDER & PETTY PABLO were dominating the urban music scene. Less than an hour away, Winston-Salem felt the impact. "We was rockin' right with them," says Twaun. "I was already rappin' before I heard them, but [to see them make it] made it start seeming more real." A.A.D teamed Meazzi up with fellow Winston-Salem native Lil Twaun, and together the two gained an impressive street following with independent releases like 3'4Souljaz and Trill Muzik. Twaun isn't sure exactly how many albums they've sold independently. "[I don't know, I just know] it's a lot for niggas who ain't got a deal. I just know it's been way more hoes comin' up to me than before," laughs Twaun.
After creating a buzz with their underground albums, Twaun broke into the mainstream in 2006 with hot radio singles like "Old Skool" and "Started Out Small." Twaun & Meazzi were soon the hottest unsigned commodity in the Winston-Salem, attracting the attention of numerous major record labels. Twaun eventually will sign a label deal with Asylum, Or the independent "incubator" branch of Warner Music Group.
Twaun's upcoming debut album, the appropriately titled Strickly B-I, is expected to drop in July 2011. "Everything I rap about is my life," explains Twaun. "It's like 'thug life,' but I call it 'Trill Life'. I don't know what I'd be doing if I wasn't rapping."
